Thle Hon. Alex ?yrie, M.L.C. (father of
Colonel Ryrie, M.L.A.), is progressing very
favourably at Dr. McCormick's private hospital
at Paddington. The hon. gentleman underwent
a very seripus operation, but the wound is
healing remarkably well considering that the
patient is over 80 years of age.
At the meeting at Young in aid of the Dread
nought Funid X£153 was collected in the room,
including .£100 from Brown Brothers, Moma
gong.
The body of the Archbishop of Sydney
was on 'Monday removed to St. Andrew's
Cathedral, where it will lay in state until
I o'clock on Wednesday. The remains will
be interred at Waverley Cemetery on Wed
nesday. Among those who intend to be
present at the funeral will. be the Arch
bishop of Melbourne and the Bishop of
Coulburn.
General Head will submit, to the Govern
ment important reports upon a variety of
subjects, including the creation of an Im
perial General Staff. This latter scheme,
while it will ensure cohesion And uniform
ity throughout the Empire, will not entail
any Imperial control of colonial troops.
Bonibala, Monday.-Rev. H. J. Gedney
(acting-Church of England rector here for
the last twelve months) left on Wednesday
to take charge of the new parish. of Tar
cutta, near Adelong. Rev. Robert Elliott,
rector of Adelong for the past two and a
half years, will take over the Bonibala par
ish.

the Doncaster winner, Hyman, for India,
has not been completed, and on Monday
Mr. R. M'Kenna secured Neith for the
Indian.sportsman, Mr. A. A. Apcar, at a
cost of 2000 guineas, the sale having been
effected privately.
After having been passed out of the ring
unsold at Messrs. H. Chisholm and Co.'s
sale of thoroughbred stock on Monday, the
stallion St. Simmer was left standing in one
of the yards adjacent with a saddle on, and,
getting one of the stirrup irons hooked on
to one of his teeth, he began circling round,
and ultimately fell into a drain, breaking
hIis'back, and was subsequently destroyed.
St. Simmer was half brother to Perkeo, and
dluring his turf career won eight races in
tihe Metropolitan district.

and Courthouses within the Pastures Pro
tection District. All applications from per
sons claiming to bq entitled to have their
names added to tle roll must be lodged
with me before TI- URSDAY, 29th APRIL,
and must state fully the grounds on which
the application is made.
The qualificatioq entitling a person to
vote is that such person is liable to be as
sessed for paymenti of rates under the Pas
tures Protection Act, and has paid all such
rates due by-him. Every such person is en
titled to at least onc vote. Every person who
is the owner or occupier of a holding, and
who laan to head ot more of large stock, or
o l?shec.p or more or the area of whose
Aidiong ontains 34o acres or upowards of
