Deny King dies
HOBART: Tasmanians from all walks
of life mourned yesterday the death of tin
miner, artist and naturalist Deny King, 81,
a pioneer and 50-year resident of the
state's south-west wilderness, who died in
Hobart at the weekend.
Mr King's son-in-law, Geoff Fenton,
said that Mr King had died of a heart
attack on Sunday night at the Hobart
home of his eldest daughter, Mary King.
He would be cremated at a public ser
vice tomorrow and his ashes flown back to
Melaleuca, where they would be scattered
over the landscape with which he had
become synonomous.
