Wood takes over WA
reins from Hughes
PERTH: Kim Hughes has been replaced as
Western Australian captain by Test opener Graeme
Wood, for the 1985-86 season.
Wood is on Ashes tour duty in England and
stood down injured from the drawn fourth Test at
Old TrafTord.
The WACA selectors made the appointment in
Perth yesterday and named solid middle-order

ACB chief executive David Richards an
nounced the Board's decision in Melbourne yester
day.
He said State associations had yet to consider
the position of all 16 rebel cricketers playing club
cricket during those periods.
Most States have provision in their by-laws to
ban the 16 rebels from playing cricket at that level
if under an ACB ban, but have been reluctant to
appear heavy handed.
