S.A. Rider Wins
After averaging more than 22
miles an hour for 195 miles, in the
richest endowed road race in Aus
tralia this season— the Victorian
Grand Prix — P. Thomas tSth.
Aust.) had a margin of only half
a wheel lead when he crossed
the finishing line on the show
grounds on Saturday afternoon.
The first or these was made by H.
Ruddick (Coburg) and W. O'Brien
(Footscray). and held for 26 miles,
when Ruddick punctured. The
second was made shortly after by
K. Bowdcn (S.A.) and R. Bnmford
(Glen Huntly) at 86 miles, and was
malntalnccl for 76 miles, ncarlng
Little River.
Eleven riders, led by E., Gregory
(Coburg), were in the first group to
enter the show grounds.

Rider Recovers
BALLARAT, Sunday.— Lewis Galvln.
32 years, Murray-street, Coburg, who
was admitted to the Ballarat Base
Hospital yesterday suffering from
concussion and abrasions to the
shoulder and leg, is making satis
factory progress. Galvln, a menibur
of the Coburg Cycling Club, was a
competitor in the Grand Prix cyc
ling race. He fell after passing
through Castlcmalne.
