Commodities
SUPPLIES IMPROVE
Although still below the normal
level, vegetables were in improved
supply at Victoria Market yesterday.
More carrots were available, but the
high prices still prevailed. There
was an eager demand for cabbages,
and lettuce sold steadily at 4d„ 5d.
each,. Most grades ot peas and beans
realised celling prices.
Quotations are for a dozen, unless
otherwise stated.

PEACHES SCARCE.
Peaches were again scnrce at the
wholesale fruit market, prices firm
ing accordingly. A few Jonathan
apples were available. Quotations per
case were:— Bananas, 12/, 42/ double
ease; lemons, to 25/; oranges, to
26/6; passion fruit, 6/, 12/ half case,
F.H.; peaches. 7/, 10/, F.H,; pine
apples, 14/, 20/ double ense, F.H.
Other quotations were:— Dessert
apples, 9/, 12/ ense; cooking apples,
5/, 8/; nectarines, 20/, 25/: pears,. 9/.

2200 BAGS RELEASED.
A total of 2200 bags of potatoes,
Including 200 bags of small grade,
were released for clvlllnns yesterday
at £6 17/6 No. 1 grade, £5 10/
small. Globe onions, £14 12/6 ton,
half-ton lots, ex store;' £15 15/ small
lots. Four trucks of chaff .arrived.
Chaff, best. £7 10/;- good, £7 5/.

FISH AGAIN SCARCE.
Fish was again scarce, and supplies
fell rar below the demand. All sup
plies wero rationed to buyers. Prices:
