INDECENCY IN RICHMOND PARK
SIX MONTHS' IMPRISONMENT.
MELBOURNE, Saturday.
Frederick Carr, aged 26 years, was
charged at the Ricihmond Court to-day
with, indecency .
A girl of 16 years stated that at about
11 p.m. yestaiday she was in the Rich
■ maiid Part, m company with liar baby
, brother. Accused, who was a few yards
off, near a tree, stood trip, and misbo- ,
baved himself before witness.
. Constable O'Sullivan deposed that when,
about 100 yards away from where the
previous witness* was sitting in the park
he observed accused nse from the ground
ftud run off. Ho jumped the Friendly
Societies’ Grounds fence. The young girl
made a complaint to him, and witness
borrowed a bicycle and pursued accused,
who was stopped by a civilian in Ander
son street. When asked why he Tan
away Carr said that he was afraid he
would get into trouble. •
Accused'deposed that.he had been look
ing for work on the day in question, and
hie action' was neoessary, but he strove |
to hide himself ag much as possible.
Sergeant Jlyan, in answer to the bench,
said there were two prior convictions
against accused- for obscene language*
He had also been discharged on a charge
of vagrancy.
Mr Keogh—Six months* ' imprison-.

Accused's mother (from the body of
the court)—l appeal against the decision.
Mrs Carr was asked to step forward,
and explained; that she wanted her son -
to -ho examined, as she believed he was
weak-minded.
Mr Keogh said that the gaol officials
would see to that.
