THE PLAYERS.
Foremost of the locals ami best, ou
the -round was T. McKenzie. and haltback"
his figure was always conspicuous
and he accomplished heaps ol brilliant
work. Second comes Tom Leahy. IH*
marking was very sure, and his kicking
much better than usual.
Head McCarthv. and lvlose. the centre
line more than 'held their own, Head
being verv sure and all over the centre
portion. * McCarthy displayed great
pace, and handled the ball well; his
passing; too, was very clever. lvlose
at times put in some hue work along the
wing, but had a fine opponent in Payne,
the Victorian flyer. Cumberland, m
ruck, knocked out well, and also marked
cleanly. Dickson also performed
creditably, and whilst up forward lent
great assistance.
Matson was the best high marker on
the ground, and constantly relieved the
back lines with fine dashing efforts. B.
Leahy handled the side well, besides playing
a sound, safe game half-back.
Dempster, in g"*", was wa*» a host in ^ — him-

were quick and clever in the forward

quite justified his selection.
Of the visitors the two best were

Tomkins (roving). Johnston (roving),
Hendrie (following), Hardy, Sloss, and

It was the Emperor Nero
Who caught a fearful cold.
His pulse went down to Zero.
(It often did we're told.)
Said he: "I'd be a. hero,
