Frank Gilmore j
Available
For N. S. Wales
pTAST bowler Frank Gilmore is a great |
believer in the invigorating qualities of j
country air. —
Gilmore, who hopes to play
for the State again this year,
has been living at Gulgong
for some time.
In Sydney on a brief busi
ness trip, Gilmore told yester
day bow he felt fitter .since his
transfer.
"I was so well after a abort spell
at Qulgong that I played in the last
four football matches there," he said.
Played R.L.
Gilmore, a Newtown first-grader,
retired from Rugby League two years
ago.
Now he is so keen that he will strip
again next winter. So much for foot
ball. Frank's chief object at present
is to see the state cricket selectors
do not forget him.
In order to be in top condition, he
hn.i been running five miles hefore
breakfast each morning, in addition
to going through a routine of physical
culture exercises.
Gilmore's weight has Increased by
half a stone, "It must be the milk
I am drinking— two quarts a day,"
he said.
"I have a hotel at Gulgong, but
these days publicans do very little
drinking."
In Gulgong
Gilmore will play in the Gulgong
and district competition, starting on
Saturday.
The standard is not particularly
high, and he should return good
figures.
The former Northern District ex
press bowled one over in a trial game
a few weeks ago.
He took four wickets for eight, and
was not allowed to try again.
In competition matches, of course,
the Gulgong people will not mind
how speedily Gilmore routs tho op
position.
No doubt tho State selectors will
keep an eye on Gilmore's perform
ances.
On his efforts last season ho is en
titled to consideration, and with
Country Week abandoned, will have
no chance to show his wares in Syd
ney unless Invited.
