Projection Machines

Numbers On Order
The bulk of the projection machines
to b'e used in the visual education
scheme were delivered yesterday to til«
Minister for Education (Mr. E. J.:
Ogilvie). An amount of £1,000 was
made available for the purchase of
machines and films for the current
financial year, and so keen has been
the demand that lt ts likely that more
will be ordered next year. The films,
which have been selected by a special
committee, will be hired to the schools
at nominal charges. The -Government
is contributing one-third of the cost of
the machines, and the SCÍIÓÓIB which
order them are required to find ihe
balance.
Five standard and 18 home models
have been ordered by schools, and lt
ls expected about 30 will, bè Installed
this year. Schools which havè ordered
the home modelR are: Lansdowne Cres-
cent, Bowen Rd., Claremont, Moonah,
Ranelagh, Deloraine, Geeveston, Gor-
don, Smithton, St. Helens, Margate,
Latrobe, Junior Technical School
(Hobart), St. Leonards, Somerset.
Sheffield Area School, Teachers' College
(Hobnrt), and Education Department
for demonstration purposes. Standard
models have been ordered by Elizabeth
St. School, Hobart State High School.
New Norfolk, Westbury, and Queens-
town.
Numerous other inquiries have been
made, nnd it is expected that -within
tho next few years few of the bigger
schools will be without machines. The
films on order cover a wide ránge ot
subjects, and the demonstrations held,
have been most successful.
