Use of sprinklers for watering1
gardens has been suspended at
Franklin.
This is because the supply at the
Franklin scheme's intake has reached
a record low level.
The council clerk (Mr C. V. Davey)
said previous restrictions were insuffi-
cient to ensure a continuous supply
for domestic purposes at Franklin.
Further restrictions were not im-
mediately necessary on other water j
schemes in the municipality.
Cr H. D. Thorp said that at 2.30
pm yesterday the water was 3 Ain be-
low the spillway in the.dam.
The water fell below the top of the
intake on Boxing Day, but rain re-
plenished the supply.
Cr Thorp said action had been
taken to prevent illegal use of water.
