CRETAN FEUD ENDS
WITH WEDDING
HERAKLION, Sunday.
Beautiful 22-year-old Thas-
soula Petrakoghiorghis, whose
abduction brought Crete to the
brink of civil war was set free
yesterday, after marrying her
kidnapper lover, Costas Kefalof-
hianis.
The "Romeo and' Juliet feud
ended in an isolated monastery
on top of Mount Ida. After that
factions supporting the two fami-
lies called off their "home guard"
and said everything was settled.
Early yesterday morning, the
married pair presented them-
selves to General Samuel, com-
mander of forces sent to Crete to
prevent an outbreak arising out
of the kidnapping. They are
leaving for Athens by plane and
will immediately visit the Arch-
bishop of Athens.
Since the kidnapping ten days
ago, only the declaration of mar-
tial law and intervention of Greek
Government leaders has prevent-
ed open warfare between mem-
bers and supporters of the two
families.
