"Prince Niki" Named
As Currency Racketeer

LONDON, April 14.
Latest figure in the currency
scandal arising from allega- <*>
tions that many British holi- <*>
day makers abroad entered
into illegal transactions with
Max Intrator. is "Prince Nilci,"
whose name is expected to be men
tioned in several prosecutions.
"Prince Nfld." described as "tall,
slim and fair-haired," is alleged to
be an agent of "Black Max" (In
trator). who is awaiting trial in
Paris on' charges of trafficking in
currency.
The "prince" is reputed to be a
middle-aged Ukranian named
Nicholas Khanovitch. who has been
working as a dancing-partner in
night clubs In Paris and the Riviera.
It is alleged that be has no right
to the title, being a displaced per
son who reached France, where he
acquired a passport.
Elsa Graves, a former model for
the sculptor Jacob Epstein, who was
fined £550 at Bow street today for
currency offences, said that she was
rescued from a "nightmare holi
day" when the "very handsome
Prince Niki" offered to cash her a
cbeque.
She said. "He is seen every
where with his beautiful Russian
brunette wife. He speaks perfect
English and always seemed to
choose the company of English
people.
"He assured me that cashing
cheques was quite legal."
Max Intrator, known as Palestine
Max, die central figure in the
sensational currency racket, in
voicing British tourist* visiting
the Continent, and the supply of
hinds to finance illegal migra
tion lo Palestine. He has been
arrested, and is awaiting trial in
Paris.
