On Saturday. thereR, as, another, caso of
pplague,,the victim being a bioy, naimed G.
M?Intyre, aged .14,- a resident.: of. Surry
Hills, who had beeni .engagod .in selling
fruit at Her Majesty's Theatre.i: The boy
wads conveyed to the Coast Hospital, and the
health aluthorities decided that it was advis
'able' to close the theatre for fumigating and
disinfecting purposes. This was accordingly
done,. and no performance was given on
:Saturday night. There are at present over
• 00 persons employed at the the theatre,
and as only one case of plague zhas occurred
the probability is that M'Intyre contracted
the disease from some outside source.. The
theatre has not been quarantined, but is
merely closed in order that the strongest
possible;preventivea and: protective measures
might be taken to ensure perfeot sanitary
conditiohs. \The vork is being done under
'the supervision of the Board of Health, and'
¶the:theatre was to reopen on Tuesday.
Aonbther case of plague was reported .on
Sunday, the patient being John Doran, of
'Redfern, 'who was also taken to the Coast
Hospital.' Late on Sunday night the hos
pital authorities reported the death of John

Next to the advertising poet, commend me
.(as a newaspper man) to the individual who
demands that the report of his utterances,
appearing several weeks previously, shall be
altered in some absolutely immaterial par.
ticular-the individual who threatens to
stop his paper; to get his friends to stop
their papers, to get your butoher to stop
your credit and overybody stoppable to stop
everything stopable, as far as you are con
corned, unless it is done. Commend me to
such a person. And then lot him be bound
hand and foot, and let me grapple with him
at midnight with a bright new axe or a
plough wheel. Happily for the world of
journalism, not every man makes the most
of his opportunities to sit down hard on
journalism's vest. For instance, a Birming
ham paper announced the death of a spb
scriber in mistake, and the editpr repeivp?
the following porreqtion for publipation :
" Sir,-I notice a few errors in your paper
of last Wednesday. I was born at Walsall,
not Worksop, and my retirement from
bisiness in 1899 was not owing to it health
but to a litlo trubloi had connected with a
horse, and the cois of my death was not
small pox, please make corrections, for
which I enclose half a crown,"
