THE LATE MR. P. MATSON.
Burial at Karrakatta.
A big crowd attended the funeral of the
late Mr. Philip Matson of.East Perth, the
well-known footballer, yesterday, and a
procession of motor cars nearly a mile long
followed the hearse to the Anglican por-
tion of the Karrakatta Cemetery. The
coffin, draped with the colours of the East
Perth Football Club, was preceded to Mil-
ligan-Street by the deceased footballer's
club mates, carrying streamers.
Among those present were representa-
tives' of various West Australian sport-
ing-bodies. The service at the graveside
was conducted by the Rev. A. Haining,
who paid a tribute to the late Mr. Matson's
sportsmanship.
The chief mourners were: Mrs. O. Mat-
son (widow), Glen and Cliff (sons), Owen
(stepson), Miss V. Matson (stepdaughter).
Bill, Ern, Tom, and Jack (brothers), and
Clara (sister). The pallbearers were: -
Messrs. J. Kidd, H. Hill, W, Howson, T.
Guthrie, W. R. Haynes, W. Crowder, J.
Phillips, and, W. Thomas. Those present
included: Messrs. A. A .Moffatt and W.
R. Orr, president and secretary respectively
of the Western Australian Football League;
representatives of the East Perth, East Fre-
mantle, Perth, Subiaco, West Perth, Clare-
mont-Cottesloe, and South Fremantle Foot-
ball Clubs. Mr. H. W. Mann, M.L.A., and
Mr. W. Hughes, representing the Colling-
wood Football Club. The funeral arrange-
ments were carried out by Messrs. D. J.
Chipper and Son.
