ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS
Last Seat Finalised.
Without altering the state of parties in
the Legislative Assembly, the final figures
for the last electorate to be counted (Yil
Karn-Gookardie) were recorded yesterday.
This electorate was also tne last to be
finalised at the general election in 1930,
when the present successful * candidate,
Mr. G. !J. Lambert, questioned the vot
ing and made the election the subject of
an appeal to the Court of Disputed Re
turns. Eventually, Mr. E. W. Corboy
(Lab.), who did not contest the present
election, was returned.
Yesterday's counting showed that Mt.
Lambert defeated his opponent — Mr. J.
E. Keightly (Independent)— by 170 votes.
The final figures were:— Lambert, 1,242;
Keightly, 1,072. Informal votes cast num
bered 69.
Counting was completed last night in
the Irwin-Moore electorate. Final figures
in the first count were as follows: — Fer-
guson, 1,590; Honner, 361; Nicholson, 979.
Mr. Ferguson was declared elected, hav
ing an absolute majority of-250.
