BASEBALL SEMI=FINALS
Fight For A Grade Honors
By OUTFIELDER
The Baseball League's A and B grade
semi-finals win be played tomorrow, but
the C Grade semi-finals have been post- <*>
poned for a week owing to a same having
to be replayed tomorrow.
University secured the minor premiership
In A Grade from Goodwood on percentage,
each securing 28 points, and Adelaide's bet
ter percentage gave It third place over Pros
pect. East Torrens finished In fifth posi
tion, two points behind the third and fourth
tennis.
The semi-final between University and Ade
laide will be played on the Hawthorn oval,
the first time the students have played on
the University oval In this series. Both
teams have strong batteries—Allck Smith and
J. Bay (University), being one of the Inter
state batteries; -while P. Farrelly (pitcher)
and R. Vaughton (catcher) will represent
Adelaide. The University Infield Is perhaps
slightly stronger than Adelaide's, but there
Is little to choose between the outfielders and
in batting. This should be a splendid and
close game. with, perhaps. University the win
ners by a small margin.
The other semi-final will be between Good
wood and Prospect, on the South Park. Pros
pect will be without A. Puckett, and J. Hali
fax will probably play at short-stop and F.
Stapleton at third. A. Cole first and G. Stock
second base. The outfielders will be L.
Lewis, E. Cox. and N. Bonney. The battery
will be a Puckett (pitcher) and T. Puckett
(catcher). It is doubtful whether C. Dew
will be able to catch for Bon Sharpe (Good
wood) on account of a strained arm. and It
is possible that he will play outfield, and
W. Holmesby take over the catching. This
will mean a reshuffling of the Infield, W.
CatchJote taking .over third base, and 3.
Hill playing at short-stop. lies Hayter. who
has been suffering from an injured finger,
will return to second base, and M. Nelson
play at left field and M. Booth at centre
field. G. Brown will play at first base. This
game will probably depend on the function
ing of the respective batteries, both pitchers
at present being in splendid form. The Vat
ting of Goodwood dorm to Mo. 9 Is slightly
stronger than that of Prospect.
