row. This programme is entitled *'I
Want a Divorce." The series is interest
ing; and thought-provoking, and is
something new in broadcast entertain
ment, in Australia ai least. Each
episode is self-contained, and in a
dramatised way presents some of the
circumstances which precede the ciy,
"I want a divorce." and forces each,
year the divorce mills of the world to1
grind faster and faster. Each episode
af ks a question, and in the short drama j
which follows, tries to find a solution
?which will prevent a divorce. " !
The first episode deals with the ques
tion: "Need constant bickering be
tween husband and wife lead to di
vorce?" The answer, of course, is.
No. providing each party uses sym
pathy and understanding, and follows
the policy of give and take. The story
is of two young married people, who
go on a caravan holiday, to find it
spoilt by constant friction and petty
quarrelling;. The answer to then
problem is only found when both of
them agree to try a little more toler
ance and understanding.
"1 Want a Divorce"1 is presented by
a cast of well-known Australian
players, and word of praise is due for
the novelty and carefulness of the
presentation. This programme will in
future be broadcast at 8 p.m. each
Sunday by stations 5 AD-SPI-SMTJ

Sir William Birdwood To Speak
As a sideline to its recording and
production work, "The Advertiser" Net
work has made arrangements with a
London recording firm to record talks (
by interesting personalities. In the list,
submitted by the London firm are many
famous men and women, sportsmen,
politicians, and travellers. It is 5 AD's
intention to have talks upon various
subjects of general interest recorded in
London and air-mailed to Adelaide to
be re-broadcast here.
The first of these records reached
Adelaide a few days ago. It was a
message from Field Marshal Sir Wil
liam Birdwood to the returned soldiers
of Australia and New Zealand.
Sir William Birdwood was in com
mand of the Australian and New Zea
land forces in Prance from 1916 until
1918, and previously he served in
command of the detached landing of
| the Australian and New Zealand Army
Corps above Gaba Tepe. It is natu
ral that on Armistice Day Sir Wil
liam's thoughts should be with his
Australian comrades, and the message
he has recorded is .an intimate one to
soldiers throughout the country.
Special arrangements for the Ar
mistice Day observation have been
made for 5 AD-SPI-SMU. At 11 aj&. a
three-minute silence will be observed,
and the sounding of the Last Post and
Jleveille will be broadcast from the
Post Office.
"The Queen's Necklace"
It has already been realised by
listeners to the "Queen's Necklace,"
the 5 AD drama of the Court of Marie
Antoinette, that the main thought in
the mind of Prince Cardinal de Rohan
is to win again the favor of his Queen.
In next Tuesday night's episode, an
other character in this drama ex
presses a similar desire. This is
Jeanne de la Motte, by her own claims,
a countess. Jeanne is clever, but poor.
The Queen's favor would mean much
to her. Already the Queen has
smiled upon her. but Jeanne wants
more than a smile. In this La Com
tesse and de Rohan have one thing in
common. It is. in the latter's opinion
at least, to both their advantages that
they should Join forces. Jeanne, the
ever-ambitious agrees. Meanwhile
Dame Clothilde, Jeanne's maid, waits
and watches.
, Also in next Tuesday's episode of
"The Queen's Necklace," listeners will
meet Pierre de Charny, the gallant
young naval officer, who has already
saved his Queen from danger. He is
the nephew of the great de Su^fren,
whom the King delights to honor. He
has also the Queen's favor and grati
tude, and his place at Court is assured.
?"The Queen's Necklace" featuring
Betty Ramsay as Marie Antoinette,
Gwen Munro as Jeanne de la Motte,
Nellie Ferguson as Dame Clothilde.
Ron Randall as Pierre de Charny. and
Leslie Victor as the Prince-Cardinal,
is broadcast each Tuesday night at 8.45
from the stations of "The Advertiser"
Network. 5 AD-SPI-SMTJ.
"Maid Of The Mountains"

cast of "Maid of the Moutains," which
is shortly to be presented at the
Theatre Royal, will broadcast from the
SAD Studio. Miss Margaret Pirie,
who plays the feminine lead in this
musical show, will sing one or two of
the most popular melodies, and her ac
companist will be Tom King.

a few words to say about the show.

tains" as Gen. Malona, the incompe
tent Governor.
