SPORTING.
(l-'rora tho ' Xubllu Evening Mall/? March 85.]
.,Tattersals, Monday. — In the courac of the
afternoon the 2000 Guinea* Stakes, Chester Cup,
and Oaks were touched upon occasionally, but the
weight of the business, which was ver* animated.
turned upon the Derhy, and in some instances with
marked cflcct. Atilla and Chatham were not in
any request, nnd the prices quoted against them
must be received as purely nominal ; the latter, in
deed, was so far from being in force, thnt 500 to
400. was laid on Wiseacre against him. The most
prominent favourites were Auckland, Wiseacre,
the Lord of Holderness, Espartero, and Palinurei.
The first of this lot was backed repeatedly at 17
to 1, 1 000 to CO, and 10 to 1 ; the second at 25,
23, and in one instance, at 20 to 1, the third freely
at 123, and 20 to 1 ; and the two next, in several
quarters at 1,000 to 25, and in more than one at
live points le«. The Dircc colt and Rober de
Gorham declined, and Canadian, the Acacia colt,
and Meteor, although backed, were senrcely In
such good odour as when we last reported the
movement at the corner. Lasso and the Joano
colt were supported with considerable energy by
three or four parties, but left oft* pretty nearly ai
they opened. Beyond a bet of 500 to 200 against
'Wiseacre for the 2000 Guineas Stakes, 30 to 1
agst. Dark Susan, and 18 to 1 agst. Sir G. Hc&th-
