Proceedings opened with a
procession from the church of
St. Barnabas, and on arrival at.
the site, the hymn "The
Church's One Foundation" was
sung, following which the. girls
of St Mary's School, Herber-
ton, sang Psalm 84. Prayers
followed, after which the War-
den of the Brotherhood called
upon the Archbishop to unveil
the Plaque. At the conclusion
of this ceremony, all present
sang the Doxology, then filed
past the Archbishop, placing
their gifts before bim.
The procession then returned J
to the church.
Afternoon tea, provided by
the ladies of tue Church of
England Guild, was served,
during which the. Archbishop
addressed those present, sup-
ported by the Bishop of the
Diocese, Bishop. Hand, of New
Guinea, and the chairman of
the Herberton Shire Council
(Councillor C. Holdcroft).
Donations received amounted |
to £200.
The inscription on the
plaque read: "This brass tablet I
was unveiled, dedicated, and]
consecrated by. Reginald, Arch-
bishop of Brisbane, to the
greater glory of God and to
the School of St Barnabas, on
September 7, in the year of
Our Lord 1952."

The buildings when complete
will consist of a dormitory
173ft. x 26ft., class room 83ft. z
37ft, kitchen, and dining ball
72ft. z 30ft., quadrangle 15 feet
square, domestic quarters 55ft.
x 27ft. The whole building
will be covered with an open
verandah. The architect is Mr.
L. Williams, of Townsville. The
contractors are residents of
Ravenshoe and comprise Messrs.
A. Hern, C. and K. Norman, J.
Armfield, R. Allan and D. Mc-
Dowell. The building is ex-
pected to be completed early
in the new year, and the first
intake of pupils will be in
February next.
