FUNERAL OF MR. SACKVILLE KIDMAN.
THE universal respect felt for the late Mr.
Sackville Kidman was demonstrated by the
exceedingly large attendance at his funeral
yesterday afternoon and by the expressions of
regret heard amongst the crowd. The funeral
cortège was one of the largest yet seen on the
Barrier. The funeral was timed to start at
2.30, and at that hour a very large crowd had
gathered round the deceased's late residence on
Mulga Hill. The hearse was preceded by
about 60 members of thc Journeymen
Botchers' Association, who marched on foot,
wearing white jackets with crape round the
arms. Deceased's employees were in front of
the procession. After thc hearse came
three mourning coaches, containing de-
ceased's relatives and most intimate friends.
Messrs. Sydney and Thomas Kidman, de-
ceased's brothers, were the chief mourners.
The mourning coaches were followed by a
buggy piled high with mourning wreaths
sent by sorrowing friends, and then came a
long line of vehicles. On turning the corner
from deceased's residence into Williams-
street 110 vehicles were counted, but as people
were waiting at every street crossing to join in
the procession there must have been fully 150
by the time the cemetery was reached.
Amongst those in the cortège were Messrs.
J. Lewis, M.L.O., T. Tait, W. Player,
Wilks, Quinn, Bromley, Marshall, Mannheim,
Morrison, H. J. Wiseman, Burns, Mitchell,
Sweetapple, J. Sully, Bright, W. J. Ralph,
K. M'Laughlln, Phil Jonas, O. S. Maddocks,
H. E. Jonas, A. Hendry, J. Whenan, W.
Harry, M. Kerrison, A. S. Knight, A. Sten-
house, J. F. Lloyd, L. Finn, Hince, Fraser,
J. M. Annelis, H. Plant, Captain Phillips, and
many other leading citizens. Deceased was
interred in thc Wesleyan portion of the
cemetery. The funeral service was conducted
by the Rev. A. P. Burgess.
