Amusing Watervale Incident
During the recent Watervale tournament
a putting competition was held on the
ninth green alter the field had gone by.
, and a crowd was gathered around looking
on. Suddenly from away back, some two
hundred yards or more along the ninth
fairway, came an excited yell of ?'Fore!"
and a gesticulating figure was seen fran
? tically waving his arms. As the crowd
i stood stock still looking for the ball to
? arrive It pitched a few feet from the
green, and the gallery watched it roll
, gently up to the hole and drop in. The
. fc^t of holing the 370 yard hole in two
overshadowed the astonishment of the
, player himself a~, hitting the unexpected
? ".-creamer" required to reach the gre?n.
; i and the crowd forgot to be annoyed at
being played onto.

An innovation in connection with the
S A.L.G.U. meeting at Kooyonea, In Sep
tember, has been announced in a ?pec'a'
competition for country women's teams.
The country teams match cup is the
trophy for which the eveet wl!! be played
and the Idea Is that teams of three may
oe entered from any one country cub
end as many teams exit-red from that
cub as they see fit. The event will prob
ably be held at the same time as the
country championship, and the winners
win be decided on the aggregate of the
three net scores. As the S.Ai.G.U. Is
anxious to make the lnnox-atlon a success
ear.y arrangements for the formation of
teams should be put in hand.
