Church To Take
Over Yalata As
Mission Station
The Lutheran Church
was ready to take over
Yalata station as a mission
for aborigines, it was an-
ounced at the Evangelical
Lutheran conference at
Tanunda yesterday.
The chairman of the
Lutheran Missions Board
(Pastor E. T. Kriewaldt)
said last night that Cabinet
had endorsed an agreement
and the church was now
waiting for it to be signed.
The Government would
take 50 p.c. of the gross in
come of the station.
This would be turned over
for native welfare work.
. The rest would be spent
by the board in running
Yalata and on spiritual
work.
Yalata, with Just under
lm. acres, would be run in
conjunction with Koonibba
station, with about 16,000
acres. ?
The SA Government
wanted a £10.000 pledge for
the stock and plant at Yal
ata* and the conference had
decided to launch a Com
monwealth-wide appeal
with the church.
