BUILDING OF
SCHOOL
Department's Action
Criticised
KATANNING, Nov. 1: A
public meeting at the Wood
anilling Hall last night con
sidered a proposal by the Edu
cation Department that a new
school capable of accommodat
ing children up to and includ
ing third standard be built at
Woodanilling and that older
children be taken to Katanning
by bus.
The Woodanilling State School
was destroyed by fire on July 1.
At the meeting it was learnt that
the department had already called
tenders for a second school bus
to carry out its proposal. By a
unanimous decision, the meeting
adopted a resolution of strong
protest against the action of the
Minister and the department,
which was in complete disregard
of feeling expressed at the pre
vious Woodanilling meeting.
By 40 votes to six, the meeting
also resolved that a request be
made for the building of a school
at Woodanilling capable of ac
commodating children up to and
including fifth standard, with older
children being taken at Katan
ning.
