Overton Lodge
Adaptation
A contract for internal altera-
tions to Overton Lodge, which
has been bought by the Cottes-
loe Municipal Council for £30,
000 as a war memorial town
hall and civic centre, was ac-
cepted by the council on Wed-
nesday night. These alterations
will merge several rooms to
produce a main hall of impos-
ing dimensions with jarrah par-
quetry flooring and polished
jarrah panelling The successful
tenderer was W. Fairweather
and Son, of Howard-street.

The council approved of the
formation of a provisional con-
sultative committee (represent-
ative of 24 Cottesloe organisa-
tions) in connection with the
civic centre, and appointed two
of its members chairman and
deputy chairman respectively.
It was decided to call tenders
for the purchase of the whole
of the vacant land between the
civic centre and Marine-parade
and bounded' on its north and
south sides by Napier-street and
Warnham-road. For this land
th council has contracted to
pay Overton Estates Ltd. £15,
000 by December 31 next.
