iliant footballer of 1953.
! With 13 votes, Blunden
[won by one vote from two
i Sturt players, A. Ellis and W.
Southern.
Southern was last year's
winner.
j Ellis, who played two lea
gue games and was reserve
! three times this season, was
'placed second, having scored
;two first preference votes.
1 Blunden went into North's
; league side after captaining
the 1949 North premiership
Colts team. In 1951. he played
on a half-back flank in the
State side, and last year
played a full league season.
The Nitschke Trophy for
the best ruckman was won
by K. Growden (Port Ade
laide) with eight votes.
Runner-up was Reg Smith
(South), with seven roints.
Three players — Zucker
(PA), Chown (WT) and
Giles (St.)— tied, for third
place with five votes.
