'Banana Ridge3
At Royal
Is Fine Comedy
Ben Travers' 'Banana Ridge' had its
premiere to a. hysterical audience at
the Theatre Royal tonight.
It's called a fapp*. hut it cnec a ennr\
way further than that, and produced a
simmer of laughter all the way through
the play.
Modern in every way, the show was
rushed through at full speed by a cast
that seemed to enjoy it as much as the
audience did.
Frank Bradley, Dorothy Dunckley,
Yvonne Banvard, and Phil Smith made
welcome returns, and Ross Vernon, son
of a former favorite, was an attractive
juvenile lead.
The story starts in an English coun
try house, and jumps for the next two
acts to the Malayan rubber estate,
'Banana Ridge,' to which the young
hero has been banished. There the
fun is even faster.
Pat McDonald was a bright little
leading lady, and Ron Shand, Donald
Davies. Ron Randell, Letty Craydon,
Owen Ronald, and Charles Gordon
added to the evening's fun.
The play will run throughout the
week.
