WOMEN'S NON-PARTY
ASSOCIATION.
The sixteenth annual meetings was held
on Wednesday evening, July 15, at Har-
vard Chambers.
Mrs. W. T. Cooke presided over a good
attendance.
The secretary presented an excellent an-
nual report, which showed that much had
been accomplised during the year.
Three definite signs of progress were
noted, viz., the inauguration of branches
at Blackwopd and Henley, the establish-
ment of a small monthly paper, and a re-
moval to a better clubroom.
Outstanding items of work undertaken
by the, association have been for improved
conditions of half-caste children, and girls
of the Northern Territory, and in connect-
tion with gaining free choice of nationality
for married women.
Five standing subcommittees have, been
at work during the year, dealing with
Parliamentary, municipal, press, finance,
and club matters., while besides local acti-
vities, there has been continual correspon-
dence with national and international
bodies.
The adoption of the report and of the
annual financial statement, presented by
the treasurer, was moved by Mrs. Mathe-
son, President of the Blackwood branch,
and seconded by the President of the Hea-
ley branch, Mrs. McKay.
The following officers for the ensuing
year, were elected unopposed:— President,
Mrs. W. Ternent Cooke; Vice-Presidents,
Mesdames Darnley Naylor, J.C. McDon-
nell, N. M. G. Gratton, and Dr. Marie
Brown; Treasurer, Miss Dora Richards;

Miss Ellinor Walker; Club Secretary, Mrs.
P. Carvosso. Under the Hare-Spence
system, there were elected for Committee,
Dr. Constance Davey, Mesdames L. B.
Bull, .J.C. McKail, J. McKay, H.T.
Nicholls, H. Robson, Harvey Johnstone,

self and the new. executive. Conveners of
subcommittees were appointed as follows:
—Parliamentary, Mrs. H. T. Nichols;
Municipal, Mrs. Rudd; Press, Miss Wal-
ker; Finance, Miss Richards; Club, Mrs.
Carvosso. A private motion to amend
the constitution by raising the subscrip-
tion was discussed, but on being put to the
vote, was decidedly negatived. Before
the close of the meeting, presentations
were made to Miss Elsa Schneider, the
retiring treasurer, and to Miss Ellinor
Walker, who has acted as assistant secre-
tary for the past 10 years.
The next meeting of the association will
be on Friday afternoon, July 24, when
Mrs. A. E. V. Richardson will give an
address upon a selected subject.
