Graf Spee scuttling will
be theme of film
LONDON, Saturday: The writing-producing-directing
team of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger will
be associated with 20th Century-Fox in a film about the
scuttling of the Nazi battleship Graf Spee in South Ameri
can waters in 1939.
Location work has
been going on in Mon
tevideo, where part of
the picture, tenta
tively titled ? 'The.
Battle' will be filmed.
The battle scenes will
be shot in the Mediter
ranean with the coopera
tion of the Admiralty.
Also on the Powell
Pressburger schedule is an
adaptation of Johann
Strauss' 'Die Fledermaus'
and an original story
called 'Miracle in St.
Anthony's Lane.' set in
the*Soho area.

the acting and dancing of
the Maoris. Laya Raki is
very attractive as the
chief's wife and Noel Pur
cell is a good contrast to
the earnest nobility of Mr.
Hawkins.

story 'The Night My

Richard Attenborough
and Sheila Sim have been
cast as members of an air
craft crew.
