Crawford Defeats Hopman i
MELBOURNE, Saturday.
Th» Victorian tennis championships
were concluded to-day. J. Crawford
(N.$.W.) retained the singles title by
defeating" H. Hopman (Vic.) by three 1
sets to one. Scores:
Singles.-J. Crawford (N.S.W.) beat
H. Hppman tVUSj.'T-fi, 0-8. 6-3. 6-4.
' Crawford was forced tb fight hard in
the first set wheh errors robbed Hop-
man of victory. He was overwhelmed
ih the second, hut then striking his
best form, was supreme for the remain-
der of the m&ttih.
Women's Singles.-Mrs. Robertson
(Scotland) beat Miss l<e Messurier

Mrs. Alan Robertson, who as Miss
Esna Boyd. wM one of Australia's
foremost women players, took her 6th
Victorian singles title by defeating
Miss Le Messurier.
Dpubles: Patterson and. Hopman
(Vic) defeated Quist and Turnbull.
2-6, Ï-6. 8-6, 6-2. .
Quist and Turnbull worried theater
pair in the early stages, but the re-
covery of Patterson, who eventually. 1
combined well with Hopman, turned
the scale.
Women's Doubles: Mrs O'Hara Wood
and Miss Toyne defeated Misses
Le Meassurier and Hoddle-Wrigley,
2-6, 8-6, 8-6.
Mixed Doubles.-3". Craw ord and
Mrs. Crawford (N.S.W.) defeated H. *
Hopman (Victoria) and Miss K. Hall
(N.S.W.V8-6, 6-8. 6-4.
