Six Wickets to Zimbulis and Puckett
MT. LAWLEY I
GOES TO MARKET
MT. LAWLEY with a bright 141
partnership by KD Bryant and
George Robinson against Subiaco
in yesterday's cricket, and West
Perth, with a bag of wickets
.gain to Puckett, firmed then
positions as popular choices for
the WJLCA. final
North Perth, with a good chance
against Fremantle, looks the only
other team in the running. Clare-
mont in an even game with East
Perth, having slipped badly in
their recent matches.
Following steady if unbrllllant bat-
ting by Dunstan, Butler, Higgins and
Orr, the best coming from Butler with
his square cutting power. Bill Bryant
and George Robinson settled down to
score freely with most attractive
cricket.
Bryant made 83 in 96 minutes, hit-
ting 11. fours, chiefly with well-plac-
ed cuts and hooks, while Robinson
with more polished, if less spectacu-
lar strokes-playing back part icu»
tarty well on the easy-paced wicket
«-joined him in a partnership which
yielded 141 in 89 minutes.'
Anderson In a long stay at the wie
leets managed 24, highest score for the j
'St-A-A-F., but after their score had
reached 94. with careful batting. Puc-
kett set to work with a vengeance,
finishing with six wickets for 66,
from 19 overs, and the side was all
out for 133, despite a 30-run stand for
the ninth wicket.
Another last-minute stand was
made by Giles and Bell for Fremantle.
With Zimbulis bundling out most of
the earlier batsmen cheaply, except for
"Cockie" Roach with 36-2 sixes and
2 fours-Giles was joined by Ed. Bell,
the team's fast bowler, and they put
en 79 for the last wicket. Bell hitting
a six and 4 fours, and Giles 7 fours. j
Charlie Macla ill, by way of a j
change, opened the batting for
North Perth in great style, and re-
mained not out at stumps, just short
of his half century.
Claremont rattled out East Perth in
an Indecently quick time, Considine
alone "getting among them": but after
a dull 20 or so in the first hour-ll
Bingles being Shea's contribution
Claremont began to get out quickly j
Alderman bowled steadily to collect '
most scalps and only a slight advan-
tage in position, if any, remained to
Claremont at stumps.
