MAGAEEY MEDALLISTS.
Who will get the Magarey medal? That
is a question which is being freely asked
in football circles. The trophy is pre
sented each year for the fairest and most
brilliant player, and is the gift of Mr. W.
A. Majarey, who also gives a similar
medal m the B grade (and which this
time was. won by C. Ryan, of Sturt). The
allocation is made by the central um
pires. Previously they have -taken a vote
on the matter at the end of the competi
tions, but this year Mr. Maoarey agreec
to the suggestion that the referee engaged
at each match should immediately at the
close of it write his choice on a piece o:
paper, sea] it in an envelope, and hand
it to' the Secretary of the 'League, who will
oped the envelopes in due course, and the
man with the /greatest number of votes will
be the mednlhst. The names which sug
gest themselves to 'Follower,' and which
mcdentally are the most .mentioned by
the man in the etreet for the
honour this time are T. Leahy (North)
and Oliver (Port). The selection (rill
probably be announced this week.
