DABLINO Downs RAOES.-There does not appear to ba
much interest manifested in our ensuing rares, Howovtr, ,
as the time arrives, no doubt things viii brighten up a
bit. The only Ional nag wo have seen in bends is Mr
Claig's ch ru, Quail, 4 JIB ; for the Maiden Finte. She
wiiB liddon over tho cricket ground at Toowoomba, on
friday lost. She is a promising and powerful miro of
her age. Her owner bought ber net long since for .
£ 18 10s., nt Draytaa, and now would not take less thin
£80 for her. Suoh. bargnins aro only to be had «ont- ?
times, at a first-rate horse matt like Drayton, lt «it
understood for some timo that Eclipse and Van Trema
wero going to Maitland. However these two cracks st-
rived nt Toowoomba ab ut tho beginning of tho week, ia
chnrgo of Murphy, and aro to take up their quarters,
in Drayton shortly. It is expected that tho-arrival of
.these horses will spoil the sport, that nothing will enter
against them, that some horses will be put .out of
trniniog, ind moro not' brought, ont that 'othcrwlia
might have been. ' In this caso it will be a " walk over"
for ilium, wo hopo not, wo should like to see n good field -
in each raco. Thc courso might be wet, slippery, and
heavy, there are many chances in a raco. ' And lardy
there ought to be found upoa the Downs, Boroo old " Jor
rocks" of a stockborae, or sonso flyer of a maiden, to
chase these cracks and perhaps to boat them.-Oaxttte
