Ackland-Horman Wins Third
Close Goll Championship

W. D. Addand-Horman, with rounds of 77 and 71, won the CIom Champion
ship of SA at Kooyong/a an Saturday after a struggle in which interest was main
tained unnl almost the last competitor had played the 36th hole. It was
Addand-Horman's third dose title win in four years.

with 40 to the turn, but came
home in great style to the 18th,
where he was three over 4's for
the round. A hooked drive at
the last cost him a stroke, but
with a 77 he took the lead from
Christie with a total of ISO.
Addand-Horman, who had
taken 77 in the strong wind of;
the morning round, reached the
turn in 36 in the afternoon.
Knowing the score he bad to
beat when he reached the 15th
tee, be finished brilliantly to
be home in 35 for a round of

for a time after a 78 in the morn
ing when he reached the turn in 36

CHANCE OF SENSATION
A. P. Porter -Naraooortei had the
chance of causing a golfing sensation.
His 75 in the first round was one
of the best for the day, and he
followed this by playing the first nine

Coming home steadily he had to
play the card from the 14th tee to
tie with Ackland-Borman. but extra!
strokes ran his total up and he fin
ished with 75, .73. alter a grand 36

W. S. Rymlll, at the tail of the
field, had returned a well compiled
75 in the morning and reached the
turn in 38 in the afternoon. An!

was working well for him a suspicion!

bad a pleasing 74 in the afternoon
which took him Into fifth place.
