Welshpool
A site near the Welshpool
railway station has been re
commended by Munitions
Department officers for the
West Australian munitions
factory.
It is expected that the factory
will employ between 1200 and
1500 people.
Premier Willcock thinks that the
factory may be in operation in well
under twelve months. ~ ?
Choice of the site recommended
follows discussions between the Mu
nitions Department officers and Mr.
Willcock and State officers.
A number of other sites were in
spected. ?
Men and women are to be sent
to the Eastern States soon, for
training, so that they can direct
work at the factory.
The State Government will pro
vide water, sewerage, roads, railways
and other facilities.
The machinery and plant will be
obtained from Australian source*.
