Medal For All
Roum} Basebcdler
FIT2R0Y IN
GRAND FINAL
MELBOURNE, Monday.
Landsown medal for the best
baseballer in 1937 has been won by
Charlie Puckett, of Esscndon.
Puckett is probably the best all
rounder in Australia. He was catcher
for South Australia, and has now won
[ame in Victoria as No. 1 pitcher.
He dominated the game this season,
and it was mainly due to his work that
Essendon was taken to the top of
League in the first round.
Fitzroy's powerful batting and fault
less defence brought it victory over
Essendon in a replay of the 'A' Grade
League final on Saturday.
Scores were equal at the end of
the sixth innings. A wild throw
by one Essendon fieldsman in the
. seventh, when the bases were full,
gave Fitzrby threes runs.
The Dons fought back magnificently
in the eighth, but their rally came too
late. ? . '., ??? . ?
Fitzroy will meet Collingwood in the
grand final next Saturday.
A feature of the match was the con
fidence with which the Fitzroy bats
fnen handled ?Puckett's difficult pitch
