WEST TORRENS CLUB.
The annual meeting of the West Torrens Foot-
ball club was held on March 20, in the
Hindmarsh Town Hall, which was well filled. The
president (Mr. T. H. Brooker) occupied the chair.
He said he hoped that the club would make a
loiward movement, and that tin- number of incui
l.eiis would leach 1,000, and that if the premier
ship could not be won the team would get i:ito
ihe finals. What West Adelaide had doi.e last
\e,ir he hoped West Torren? would do this seascn.
The bal'ince-dhect ebows that the income for the
jear is (he largest since its formation. This «s
mainly due to the grer-.t p-.ipularily of the giine|
and the increasing patronage and favor the duo 1
is getting fiom ihe residents of the district. The]
mcnbiTsiiip is still ;nc:eas.ng by leafs ar.'l
bounds. In 1900 we had on ihe roll-Look HO
iiair.es, in 1307 IGi. an.! in 1908 G00. The Cv.ni
n.ittte wifh lo U-ndor their tor.^ratuiations to tU-J
pliyers vpon the many fine games pirt up l-y
them dv.riug the se:ison. The team w«6 a good
one, and with a lit tic belter luck must have lud
a lun ir. the final flutter. We- dropped from third
place to fifth. With a bitter system the team
w.juld have given a better acouut of thvinselvus.
We desire to tereer the haitkst ccngi'aLulaiiuns

We complement (he captain, S. D. Giddts, for tlie
able and efficient manner in which he handled his
team, and also L. Weil-, vice-captain. The duties
of trainers were again entrusted to J. Harley,
head trainer, assisted by E. Quick, E. Medwell,
S. Hine, C. Matthews, W. Byrne, and R. Barrey,
who performed their work in their usual efficient
manner. Football, he said, was threatened with
impel taiions, and one team was marly full 'i
men from the other States, and in the circnir.- |
ftanc.es if West Torrens was high on the scoring i
list it would be a great honor.
The -report stated:— 'The prospects for the com
ing bcason arc good. The mujoiity of last tea^.n's
