July 9. — Present — All. Cr. Shorney was ;
elected Chairman. 'Works Committee reported !
having defined levels and boundaries of Acra
man-sti-eet, also having inspected lagoon of
stagnant water fronting -Exmouth-street and
Semaphore-road, and suggested the only feasible .
method of draining water' was to place a cul
vert across Exmouth-street, and allow the wfttar :
to run through Glanvllle District into Hawker's
Creek. Messrs. Robin & Hack wrote 'expressing
surprise at complaint laid by Council re ob
structing North-parade-road and footpath, and
promising to place same in repair when build
ing is complete. Central 'Board of Health in
formed Council of complaint having been made
respectiag stagnant water adjoining Exmouth
street and Semaphore-road. Whole Council
agreed to meet on Tuesday morning in order to
inspect the place. Commissioner of Crown
Lands informed Council that in order to save
expense of constructing another width of metal
it had been determined to lay rails along' pre
sent strip of road, which was about 15 feet from
centre. Clerk to reply expressing regret of
Council at such a decision, and : protesting
against course mentioned. Ore. Harris and Rice
were appointed Works Oommittee, and were in
structed to attend to replanting trees along
Semaphore-road. ,
