A city girl goes out-back for a holiday. She is an ardent lover of Nature, and in an interesting way is thrown in contact with an invalid of similar tastes. When he recovers they visit the "bird places" together, and have many pleasant excursions. One day he reveals just enough about himself to let her realise that the name she knows him by is assumed, and that he is under a cloud of some sort. The next morning he goes off. She returns to the city, and the story cleverly circles about an old lover and her memories of the man of the bird-places. ... [ILLUSTRATED]
