    When the company's employees ceased their labours because they were asked to handle "black" coal, a camp was established at the works under the control of the assistant secretary (Mr. Gurnett), the general arrangements being made by the engineer (Mr. Wilson). Twenty or more clerks from the head office of the company were chosen to assist in the management of the camp. Five cooks were told off to preside over the kitchen, and without the least inconvenience 1700 meals were served daily.
