    These are the plans, drawn In 1877, and referred to by Mr. H. Byron Moore "The "Argus" on Saturday, of the imposing hothouse conservatory projected for the Botanic Gardens. The Public Works department, at the instance of Mr. Moore, then an officer of the Lands department, planned the building on the lines of the great palm-house in the Kew Gardens, London, with a handsome dome for targe palms, as shown in the centre. The present hothouse, which was built nearly 46 years ago, and which has fallon into disrepair, is, as shown in the plan on the left, between the large dome and the smaller ones, part of the connecting arm to this central dome.
