Biographical Note

Arch Gray was born 22 June 1901 and grew up at West Wallsend, New South Wales. He was a teacher, historian and scholar who was active in the Society of Australian Geneologists. In 1960 Mr Gray was appointed to the steering committee of the Australian Dictionary of Biography and contributed many articles to the early volumes. He was also prominent in the Royal Australian Historical Society (R.A.H.S.) having been Hon. Secretary, Hon. Research Officer and Hon. Registrar.
