Introduction

Scope and Contents

The bulk of the collection deals with Dr Isaac's works and consist of research notes and draft manuscripts. Some of the manuscripts were passed to colleagues prior to publication and are annotated with suggestions. The four major works written by Dr Isaacs are included in the collection. They are: Greek children in Sydney (Canberra: Australian National University, 1976), The Greek community in Sydney : a contribution to the sociology of ethnicity (Sydney: University of New South Wales, [1981]), Greek children at school and after (Canberra: Australian Government Publishing Service, 1981) and 'Social history of Greek professionals in New South Wales' (unpublished). Conference papers written by Dr Isaacs are also present, as are materials produced by other academics and used in her research.

The work of Dr Isaacs with the Department of Education is documented in the collection by handwritten notes and typescripts created during the period 1962-1973. Her roles as a member of the Councils of both the Wenona School, a private girls' school in Sydney (1972-82) and the Mitchell College of Advanced Education (1980-82) are also documented by meeting agendas and memoranda, correspondence and handwritten notes.
