Scope and Contents

On 14 October 2023, Australians voted in a referendum about whether to change the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing a body called the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice.

Collection documents the Vote No campaign event held at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, Perth, Western Australia, on 2 October 2023 before voting day for the referendum on an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to Parliament. The images capture Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price and Nyunggai Warren Mundine addressing the crowd. Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price is a Warlpiri/Celtic woman and Shadow Minister for Indigenous Australians. Nyunggai Warren Mundine is a member of the Bundjalung, Gumbaynggirr and Yuin people of New South Wales.
