Scope and Contents
Cultural Sensitivity Advisory Notice: Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and other First Nations people are advised that this file contains names, descriptions and images of deceased people and other content that may be distressing and/or culturally sensitive, specifically content relating to the nuclear weapons testing at Maralinga and Emu Field between 1952 and 1963, including personal statements of Aboriginal people living in these communities.
This collection comprises papers relating to the book about nuclear weapons testing at Maralinga, Montebello Islands and Emu fields, collated for the book Beyond Belief: The British Bomb Tests - Australian Veterans speak out (2005), by Roger Cross and Avon Hudson. The collection includes correspondence with veterans and official bodies; transcripts of veterans' personal histories; audio cassette tapes of interviews with veterans; and some published material about testing and radiation.
