Editorial Notes.  

This, the closing issue of the “Review’s” nineteenth year,  

is striking one, and contains most important information.  

Contents.  

The Wool Outlook for 1910, by S. B. Hoi-  

lings, should be carefully studied by  

every woolgrower in the world. Aus-  

tralian Finance and Commonwealth Borrowing, by one of  

the leading financial experts in Australia, is an important  

article. Progress of Settlement in Southern Queensland is as  

interesting as the one on Central Queensland was last issue.  

Artesian Irrigation, being the result of many months’ ex-  

periments by Mr, R. S. Symmonds, Hew South Wales Go-  

vernment Chemist, will delight everyone connected with  

pastoral Australia. By permission of the Under-Secretary  

we are permitted to publish this before it appeared in the  

“Government Gazette.” The discoveries are of the first  

importance. Other articles are:—Western Australian Land  

Laws, The Mosquito Pest, Mortality Among Queensland  

Cattle, and the Victorian Sheep-dipping Bill. map of the  

flood areas of New South Wales, showing the rivers from  

Queensland, and how they affect the New South Wales rivers,  

also data of the 1890 flood, together with full description  

of the present flood (without exaggerations) is one of the  

most interesting features we have had for some time. The  

illustrated articles are, Peccary Hunting, by Professor Wal-  

lace, of Edinburgh; and Neglected Australia (Northern Ter-  

ritory). The Pastoral Homes this issue are those of Brindley  

Park. Merton, Martindale and Belmont Park, all in New  

South Wales. Other illustrations are, plans of shearing  

shed for up to 10,000 sheep, meat house for the bush, sta-  

tion tanks, and water in dry places. These last are two most  

interesting pictures, and show how dew ponds are made,  

and what thev look like. Amongst other important informa-  

tion is the A.W.U. Conference, The Coal Strike, Linking  

up the Railways, The Northern Exodus, The Daily Papers  

and the Strike, Queensland Stock Routes, School of A7eteri-  

nary Science, Shearers and Wet Sheep, West Central Queens-  

land, Deterioration of Imported Stock, Ticks on the North  

Queensland Stock Routes, Fires on Wool Ships, Record  

Jump, and Packing Skins. In the Light Literature  

Department R.E.N.T. continues his travels through  

Europe, and “Fife and Drum” gives most in-  

teresting description of the yearlings to be offered  

this month in Melbourne. Reports on all agricultural and  

pastoral matters from New Zealand and all parts of the  

world are as usual of great value, aud the trade notices,  

supplying every item of information required by the pro-  

ducer. the merchant, the shipper, or the consignee, make  

up most valuable completion to the nineteenth volume.  

Taken all. round, the season in Australia remains good to  

excellent. From here and there, however, reports come in

that there is either too much rain, or that  

rain is badly wanted, but these are iso-  

lated reports, and, as rule, refer to  

very local areas. reference to the monthly map showing  

conditions of the pastures, on another page, will go to show
