Scope and Content
The Navy Board was responsible for the civil administration of the Navy, including the appointment of petty officers, the provision of stores and the administration of the Royal dockyards. It was abolished in 1832. The Australian Joint Copying Project filmed extracts from selected correspondence (pieces) relating to the voyages of James Cook including: the establishment of a settlement in New South Wales; transport agents and others, 1784-1790 about First Fleet and Second Fleet; stores to officers at foreign stations, 1785-1796 and Deptford Yard letterbooks 1766-1789 about maintenance and equipment of vessels.
