This series is comprised of material relating to biographical and personal information of Professor Lowitja O'Donoghue. Many of the documents relate to O'Donoghue's roles as chair of Aboriginal Hostels, chair of Aboriginal Development Commission and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC); and her work as public servant for both the federal government of Australia and state government of South Australia. Including curricula vitae, correspondence, short biographies and newspaper clippings. The newspaper clippings cover a variety of topics in relation to O'Donoghue's career and advocacy; including speculation surrounding who Paul Keating would appoint as the next Governor General of Australia following The Honourable William George Hayden's retirement. This series also includes personal documents relating to O'Donoghue including her passports, school reports and correspondence regarding obtaining a birth certificate.

This series is comprised of speeches, addresses and lectures given by Professor Lowitja O'Donoghue for the most part ordered chronologically. Many of the speeches relate to O'Donoghue's roles as chair of Aboriginal Hostels, chair of Aboriginal Development Commission and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC).
