The Library is proud to announce the appointment of its newest Council member Distinguished Professor Larissa Behrendt AO, who joined us on 24 May 2024 for a three-year term.
Larissa is a Eualayai/Gamillaroi woman and Laureate Fellow at the Jumbunna Institute of Indigenous Education and Research at the University of Technology, Sydney. She is a graduate of the UNSW Law School and has a Masters and SJD from Harvard Law School. She has published numerous textbooks on Indigenous legal issues. She is also a novelist and an award-winning filmmaker.
Larissa was awarded an Order of Australia (AO) for her work in Indigenous education, the law and the arts in 2020. She received the Human Rights Medal 2021 from the Australian Human Rights Commission.
